Bob:
In a state that never closed, our business soared. The walk in traffic did not, but the web and calls kept us going and at the end of the year, even I was shocked. I have set my goals based on last years sales and what I project will happen this year. None of us know what any year will bring, but your positivity keeps me focused on what I need to do. I am a 3rd year business, moving in year two and starting basically over with expenses. I will take your positivity and make it grow. Thanks for your retail snipits.
Hi Rickie,
It sounds like great things are happening to you. Congratulations!
Bob
Yes, It all starts with us…thanks for the motivation!
Yes it does! Thanks for your comment Cheryl!
Bob
Good advice. I now have to work on how to best adapt it into my life and business. It will be a challenge.
Thank you
Kelly,
You’re up to the challenge!
Bob
Dear Bob
I love your content but I think you’re being terribly naïve.
I’ve just sat and listen to leading virus expert who was exploding
how we are about to enter a new phase of COVID with the new
strains becoming dominant in the the next 4 -16 weeks. (Meet the press interview)
I think thought leaders have a real responsibility when it comes
to making statements that are misleading.
Covid is with us for sometime to come and the end is way way off in the distance.
Just my opinion.
Stay well and safe.
Though I completely agree with your premise and the core components of your argument, I’m having difficulty with a couple of issues. (1) COVID will be around a lot longer than 3…6…or12 months. Rather than being “gone” it will evolve (new strains) and we will need to learn to live with it or some variant(s) for some time. (2) Avoiding stress when COVID keeps happening in your community and among your staff is not so easy. Again, you need to be able to pivot very quickly and find alternatives to what had been planned. This still takes a lot of energy and time. “Letting go” may work for some, but it’s not working for me. I have to be on my toes MORE now that in the past to be able to anticipate, plan contingencies, fill in for others who are self-quarantined, etc. Hopefully, there will be a day when I can do strategic planning for a longer timeframe!
Carol,
Thanks for your comment.
Please see my remarks to Stephen about the virus.
While you are correct that for some “letting go” is not an option it is something to work towards because my advice remains the same: if you do not find a way to maintain your energy and focus and burn yourself out, you will not be able to take advantage of the opportunities that lie on the other side of the pandemic.
Bob
Stephen,
Thanks for your comment.
However, I find it interesting that you feel I made misleading remarks. At the :57 mark I clearly state I don’t know when the pandic is going to end.
Yes, you saw an expert today explore how we are entering a new phase. This is one opinion, and not necessarily the truth: the science changes, the virus changes, technology changes. Nobody knows what the next 6 -18 months is going to bring.
I don’t think I am irresponsible sharing this opinion and I stand by it.
Bob
Thanks Bob! Spot on!
Thanks Mark!
Thoughtful advice
Thanks Nicki!
I am trying to do just that, but I am feeling a lot of pressure from outside factors as internal personnel . Feels sometimes like the tail is wagging the dog. Which causes this dog to growl.
Trish,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, this whole pandemic is uber challenging. There is so much outside of our control. But while we can’t control the circumstances we can control how we react to them.
Hang in there!
