This Episode: Dealing With Tricky Times In The Supply Chain
This holiday season is going to be challenging. You’ve seen the pictures of the freighters lined up to get into port to unload the goods, the goods that could or should be coming to your store. In this episode, we’ll talk about what you can do to make sure that you have merchandise to sell to your customers and make this fourth quarter the best that it can be.
If you have any other strategies that you would like to share with us, please put them in the comments section down below.
Jim, glad to see you have discovered diversification as you “begin again,” which is what we all must do after we’ve had some hard knocks. And the ACTION you are taking to implement what you are learning from the Retail Mastery System is exactly the cure for your stress. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for your comments Jim. While it may not seem like it now, all of things you are doing and learning now will be very important in your future.
Hang in there!

What about used and/or consignment goods? Won’t work for everyone, but at least for the music industry, that has been huge. We mostly sell pianos, so we’ve been doing more and more used pianos, to help balance out the lack of product shipped by our major suppliers. Won’t work for everyone, but for some types of products, you can get much better margins and get them right away.
Brendan,
While this won’t work for everyone, I LOVE this idea. Thanks for sharing!

It’s has even been tricky with the Localization as most Local manufactures have increased their business to the point where they have stop taking orders up to 2 months ago as they do not have the staff or means to produce enough product. This also includes larger USA vendors such as Simon Pearce Glass which will not ship until Feb. 2022. They are taking care of their own omnichannels however as was stated in the letter to their retail partners. Thank goodness I was able to order a large order in July. Veery Tricky Business this 4thQ.
Thank you for coaching all of us through this & BTW
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Thanks for you comment Marie. Tricky stuff indeed.
And thanks for the birthday wishes.

this year has not been very great, we were shut down for 3 months due to water pipes freezing, breaking and flooding the entire store. Then last month my breathing air compressor died which is the main item that we supply to all divers in the area. Then of course all my major suppliers have fallen short, I did find 2 new suppliers who actually make all their products here in US. they have all I need as of now. We have begun to diversify, so basically we are starting over. We are implementing all that we have learned from the mastery class, and it has truly helped. See you tomorrow, to learn more. Thanks Jim
