This Episode: The Ultimate Holiday Bounce Back
In this episode of Real Retail TV, I share one of the best ways to get your holiday shoppers coming back long after the season is over. The opportunity to turn casual shoppers into lifelong customers is huge and Blizzard Bucks makes it far less challenging. This is a great way to grow your business by increasing your number of transactions per customer. It just makes sense. So get creative and get going!
Are you currently using Blizzard Bucks or thinking about starting this year? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
We’ve been doing this the past two holiday seasons, with an option to use as soon as the next day up until four weeks later. The amount of bucks that come back are mind-boggling! Most of these purchases would not have been made without the bucks perk. In addition, we allow customers to gift their bucks to friends and family if they won’t be using it themselves, and it has earned us a nice amount of new customers.
Right on, Miriam!! Love the twist with gifting bucks to friends to earn new customers!
When customers come in in the new year to use their Blizzard Bucks do any retailers have a minimum purchase required for redemption? We tried it one year and had customers searching the shop for something worth exactly the value of their bucks. Has anyone else had this experience?
Yes. There will always be those. But for the most part, loyal customers who like your merchandise will make a purchase that still leaves you with a decent amount of revenue and overall it’s worth it. You may want to exclude certain categories of products, if need be. We exclude the clearance/sale racks, and it’s clearly noted on the bucks.
Thanks for your question, Heather. Miriam’s right… you’re still spreading good will and having another opportunity to build the relationship, even if they don’t spend more than their bucks on that visit.
I am going to do this for the first time and call it Canine Cash. During December we will do 10% and they will be good for the month of January.
Chelly, you’ll love the results. Good name!
We have been doing this the last 2 Christmas seasons and call ours REINDEER BUCKS! We are going to do the 5% this year and we have them redeem it in January
Way to go, Rose! Love Reindeer Bucks! (That’s a pretty good pun, too!)
Going to try it for the first time this season. We’ll see how it goes.
Good for you! You’ll love the results, Cheryl!
When offering Blizzard bucks, do you also contribute to their 6box or other loyalty program?
I would! If a customer uses Blizzard Bucks (or any other type of gift certificate) for a purchase it absolutely gets put on their 6 Box Card. It makes your customer feel like they get to “double dip,” as well as increases their loyalty to your store.
